DENTAL SUITABILITY
Can I Use a Sleep Apnoea Device with Implants, Crowns or Missing Teeth?
Crowns, implants or missing teeth do not automatically rule out a mandibular advancement device. The key question is whether a suitable appliance can be retained comfortably and safely in your individual mouth.
Crowns and bridges
The fit and condition of restorations matter. An appliance can place forces on teeth and restorations; a loose crown or active dental problem should be addressed before treatment. New restorative work may require an appliance adjustment or remake.
Implants and missing teeth
Implants and their restorations need careful assessment of stability, distribution and bite. Missing teeth can limit retention and affect device choice. Some patients may need a different design, further dental treatment or another sleep treatment pathway.
The consultation
Dr Kundi assesses teeth, gums, restorations, bite and jaw joints, and reviews the medical sleep plan. Device selection and any risks are discussed before scans and fitting. Ongoing review checks comfort, retention and bite changes.
